Jacques Derrida (born July 15, 1930 -- October 8, 2004) was an Algerian-born French philosopher, known as the founder of deconstruction. His voluminous work had a profound impact upon continental philosophy, French philosophy, and literary theory. Derrida taught philosophy at the Sorbonne, and from 1964 to 1984 at the École Normale Superieure. He completed his Thèse d'État in 1980; the work was subsequently published in English translation as "The Time of a Thesis: Punctuations". Beginning with his 1966 lecture at Johns Hopkins University, at which he presented his essay "Structure, Sign, and Play in the Discourse of the Human Sciences" (see below), his work assumed international prominence.In 1967 Derrida published his first three books — Writing and Difference, Speech and Phenomena, and Of Grammatology. Until his death Derrida was director of studies at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris. With François Châtelet and others, he co-founded the Collège international de philosophie (CIPH) in 1983, a research institution intended to give a place to philosophical research and lectures which could not be carried out elsewhere in the academy. He was elected as its first president.
Derrida held a series of visiting and permanent positions. In 1986 he became Professor of the Humanities at the University of California, Irvine (which now has a major archive of his manuscripts). He was a regular visiting professor at several other major American universities, including Johns Hopkins University, Yale University, and New York University, and The New School for Social Research. Derrida was a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and received the 2001 Adorno-Preis from the University of Frankfurt. He was awarded honorary doctorates by Cambridge University (after a great deal of controversy), Columbia University, The New School for Social Research, the University of Essex, University of Leuven, and Williams College. In 2003, Derrida was diagnosed with aggressive pancreatic cancer, which reduced his speaking and traveling engagements. He died in a Parisian hospital on the evening of Friday, October 8, 2004.

In case people don't know : Jacques Brel was a Belgian singer who sang in French (and also a little in Dutch), had tremendous success in France and French speaking audiences. He wrote unforgettable songs, both music and lyrics, and was a brilliant performer. His most famous song is "Ne me quitte pas", covered in several other languages, like in English as "If you go away" by many artists as Frank Sinatra, etc.
"Jef" is the name of a friend, the song is about friendship.

Jacques Palminger wurde 1964 im Kreise seiner engsten Verwandten
geboren. Nach einer Jugend verließ er seinen bürgerlichen Korpus, ging nach Berlin und formte sich ein Leben nach eigenem Gusto. Anhaltende Depressionen drängten ihn Ende der achtziger Jahre immer tiefer in die Musikszene.
Palminger experimentierte mit Gewalt und erkämpfte sich eine
Führungsposition. Später zerstritt er sich mit der gesamten
Musikbranche und beschimpfte seine damaligen Mitstreiter als "Dreckschweine". Verärgert zog er 1992 nach Hamburg. Er zeugte im Streit zwei Kinder und spielte Schlagzeug in der Punkband "Dackelblut". Heute geht es ihm wesentlich besser als früher. Er schreibt Chansons für die Gruppe "Universal Gonzalez", in der er auch die Felle massiert. Palminger ist Gründungsmitglied der Geheimloge "Studio Braun". Als Hörspielautor schuf er die WDR Produktion "Einschlafgeschichten für Männer" und hatte das Glück, am Schauspielhaus Zürich in der Pucher Inszenierung "Heinrich IV" mitzuspielen. Jacques Palminger beschäftigt sich viel mit Zeit und macht oft Lachstudien vor dem Spiegel. Meistens ist er aus seiner Wohnung in St. Georg nicht mehr wegzudenken. Der begeisterte Bodypainter hat gerade eine Motte totgeschlagen. Wahrscheinlich aus dem Schuhschrank. Eigentlich verachtet er "Gänsefüßchen".

Joseph Jacques Omer "Jake the Snake" Plante (January 17, 1929 February 27, 1986) was a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender. He grew up in Shawinigan Falls, Quebec, and began to play hockey in 1932. Because he suffered from asthma, his skating ability was restricted; thus, he began playing the goaltender position. Plante started to play organized hockey at age 12, and his first professional game was at age 18. He played for the Montreal Canadiens from 1953 to 1963; during his tenure, the team won the Stanley Cup six times, including five consecutive wins.
Plante first retired in 1965, but was persuaded to return to the NHL to play for the expansion St. Louis Blues in 1968. He was later traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1970, and to the Boston Bruins in 1973. He joined the World Hockey Association, first as coach and general manager for the Quebec Nordiques in 197374; he then played goal for the Edmonton Oilers in 197475, ending his professional career with that team.
Plante is considered one of the most important innovators in hockey. Most notably, Plante was the first NHL goaltender to wear a goalie mask in regulation play on a regular basis. With the assistance of other experts, he developed and tested many versions of the goalie mask, including the forerunner of today's mask/helmet combination. Plante was the first goaltender to regularly play the puck outside his crease in support of his team's defencemen, and often instructed his teammates from behind the play, as the goaltender usually has the best view of the game.
