"I Swear" is a ballad written by Gary Baker and Frank J. Myers that became a hit for two acts in 1994. Initially it was a number one song on the U.S. Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart for John Michael Montgomery at the beginning of the year. His version crossed over to pop radio and climbed to #42 on the Billboard Hot 100. In Sweden, the All-4-One version hit #1.
The All-4-One version is slightly different than John Michael Montgomery's - in that the line "And when there's silver in your hair" from the second verse was replaced by "And when just the two of us are there."
"I Swear" won a Grammy Award in 1995 for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal and enjoyed an eleven-week run at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and a seven-week run at #2 in the UK. It was also nominated for Song Of The Year, as was the single "I Can Love You Like That,". The group were popular before the #1 success of "I Swear", as their previous single "So Much in Love" had reached #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 earlier in the year.
